This blog started a few years ago as a random attempt for me to write and perhaps take pictures of my food. You’ll notice the early photos are rather dreadful. The more current photos aren’t too shabby but I’m still in need of a SLR camera. Things have been rather quiet around here lately as we’ve been uprooted twice in the last 6 months and are still trying to get things in order.
I graduated (with honors) from Oregon Culinary Institute in February 2012 with a degree in Baking and Pastry Management. I love making breads, cakes and cupcakes, like to experiment with gluten-free baking.
My kitchen piddling was spurred by an impromptu transition into veganism back in 2008. I’m not, and never was, completely vegan (and I have a lot of strong feelings about the importance of labels in our society), but I won’t get started on that. Everything on my blog is entirely vegan however. There’s generally more dessert related stuff here than anything else, but some savory pops up from time to time.
Well I hope you like what you see, enjoy what you read and come back for more. Please feel free to comment on anything or ask any question you like. You can also email me at parsnipsandsprockets@gmail.com.

This is the aforementioned sister and I would just like to say that I am not nicer than Amber…Amber is just more apt to let her honest opinion shine through, which in the world of stupid people we live in is somewhat necessary.
P.S. Love this pic!
It looks as though you have lost weight. Which you did not have to lose. Yes, it has been a few years since you lived in Fayetteville but you still look good. We miss you but are so glad you are back in school!
You’re quite the writer. I really liked your Coffee and Cobblestone.
I thought you were kidding about your veganism…I guess I was wrong. =)
Thanks! I have a long way to go on the whole writing thing, but I really like that essay too.
And I wasn’t joking. =) All that food on Facebook, yeah it’s vegan.
Hi Amber! I’m coming from my blog stats, thanks for the link
)
Congratulations for the blog… your Italian is better than my English, but let me tell you “Buon sta leggendo” is incorrect… the right words are “buona lettura”.
However I add you to my blogroll to continue to follow you
Grazie! Correggero’ l’errore.
Amber, I think we should be blog friends…I like what I see!!! We have a lot in common, except that I am green with envy that you went to culinary school. I hope to do that someday! http://www.preparingforpeanut.com
Apart from the beer thing, our interests are the exact same. You must be awesome.
Love the look of your blog and now that I have discovered you write poetry too (meaning I’m not the only one left in the world that does so), you have become my new favourite blogger! I am quite keen to try out some of your recipes. =)
Don’t mean to ambush you with my posts but I really enjoy your blog and have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. You can check out the post here: http://morethangreens.wordpress.com/2012/05/04/versatile-blogger-award/
